Weekend Bits

1. Narcissus smelling so beautiful. A little spring on a snowy weekend.
2. Crochet growing during all our indoor time.
3. This blanket was started in Ireland, inspired by the colours of the coast there. I fell out of love with it for a while - it seemed to take forever to grow. But now as I dream of summer shorelines I find myself loving it again.
4. The house has been filled with the smell of orange this weekend; marmalade has been made. I use Nigella's recipe in 'How to Eat' a book I often return to. The oranges are boiled whole for two hours which makes an easy job of all the shredding. I have used it several times and it has never failed me.
5. The jars lined up on the windowsill gave the view a shot of pleasing colour.

6. For when we came back from all that sledging and snowball fighting there was tea and orange cake. Lovely.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. From instagram I got the distinct feeling that weekends much like mine were happening all over the country.

  2. How To Eat is her best book don't you think? I remember very clearly when I discovered (Waterstone's in Merry Hill) it just after it had been published and before anyone had really heard of her.

I have lots of lime marmalade so I'm skipping the Sevilles this year but it is nice to sample yours, I can smell it from here.

  11. Karen - I wonder if you remember showing me the ripple blanket you had been crocheting in the car on your last visit to Stone? Although it was an otherwise sad occasion I was inspired enough to start one myself and haven't stopped since. Have loved looking at your blog and was about to comment on your marmalade cake when I pressed the 'about' button by accident. Imagine my surprise! I've only just started this blogging lark so if you peek please don't judge me too harshly. Looks like all are well so love from snowy Staffordshire x Jane
