Nature in the Home
I missed the start of Lou's 'Nature in the Home' last week; despite being surrounded by leaves, conkers and beautiful flowers given to me by Mark I failed to post! Sometimes real life is too big to allow much else. Anyway I am joining in this week and have had a lovely time doing something I meant to do last year but didn't - wax coated leaves. Last week I posted a picture taken from Martha Stewart's site of leaves, dipped in wax. The picture had been on my pinterest board for at least a year - I was determined to give it s try.
Well what a lovely way to spend an afternoon, just picking out your favourite leaves, dipping them in warm, liquid wax and hanging them to dry. I always keep the ends of candles as I use them to make fir cones into firelighters. one of the ends I had was from a rose and geranium scented one - perfect for this - the leaves impart a lovely gentle scent now. Once the wax was melted it was hard to stop - leaves are appearing all over the house. These photos don't really do them justice as I missed the best light today. Some fir cones got dipped too - think we may be needing them soon - it is getting colder!
